Review by hotel critic
My recent stay at Treebo Raj Palace in Varanasi left much to be desired, I must admit. Upon arrival, I was surprised to find that reaching the hotel required a rather tiresome kilometre-long walk, which certainly isn't ideal for anyone, especially seniors. The rooms were not just small and poorly lit; they felt like they had seen better days years ago. Honestly, the condition reminded me of something you’d find at a third-class accommodation rather than the more premium rate of Rs2000/- they charged. The lack of room service was a real letdown. Instead of being able to relax and order in, we were informed that food would be sourced externally, often at triple the price due to their apparent commission. The hassle didn't stop there; the hotel continued to reach out after checkout about additional charges for bills that weren't even ours. It’s disheartening to encounter such practices while travelling, especially when I've had positive experiences elsewhere. I recommend looking elsewhere; Varanasi has so much to offer, and I believe there are better pockets of hospitality to explore that would enhance your experience of this culturally rich city. As a seasoned traveller, I value transparency, and unfortunately, Treebo Raj Palace missed the mark entirely.
